Project 01 — Exterior

Light siding
to bold black

A dramatic exterior transformation that keeps the original red brick as the focal point while the siding, gables and trim shift to a rich black finish for a sharper, more modern look.

Project 01 — Macomb Township

Full exterior:
taupe to black

A two-story home with board-and-batten siding over red brick. Bad boards were cut out and replaced, new trim was fitted, then the whole exterior was washed, masked and coated in a deep black that leaves the brick doing the talking.

The home before painting: worn taupe board-and-batten siding, windows and doors papered off and masked ready for spraying — Before

The finished home in deep black board-and-batten siding and gables above untouched red brick, with crisp black window trim — After

A crew member on an extension ladder fitting a replacement siding board high on a gable against a deep blue sky — Siding repair, before paint

New bare cedar trim boards installed around a tall projecting gable and window, with a drop cloth over the shrubs below — New trim installed

The finished gable end in deep black above red brick, with the ladder still standing against the house — Gable end, final coat
